As You Sow Planting Seeds For Social Change

CSR Program

The Corporate Social Responsibility Program promotes corporate responsibility by engaging publicly held companies to adopt more progressive social and environmental policies - using the power of ownership to promote positive change. We engage in dialogue with selected companies, file shareholder resolutions, build coalitions, and conduct shareholder education initiatives to raise awareness and promote more responsible corporate behavior.

We have led or actively participated in more than 50 shareholder dialogues or resolutions. Among the many companies whose policies and practices have been improved by dialogue with As You Sow and its clients and partners include Disney, McDonald's, Dell, HP, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, Time-Warner, Gap, Home Depot, and Staples. Read more about our successes.

As You Sow serves as a central resource for foundation and other institutions interested in proxy voting and shareholder action. Our publications explain how foundations can further their missions through the use of proxy voting.

Working in Partnership
We undertake our work in collaboration with other concerned investors including socially responsible investment (SRI) services firms, religious investors, and foundations. Recent clients include Domini Social Investments and Calvert Group, two of the largest socially screened mutual funds in the U.S., as well as the Educational Foundation of America. We work in alliance with the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility and such leading SRI firms such as Walden Asset Management and Trillium Asset Management.
