As You Sow is working with experts in the United States and abroad to identify the best practices for both take-back and disposal of fluorescent bulbs. We are engaging with US companies to label their bulbs as per proper clean-up information to prevent mercury exposure from accidental breakage. We are also speaking with companies that have implemented end-of-life policies for fluorescent bulbs and will be engaging US companies to expand these practices in order to protect consumers, sanitation workers, and the environment from the leaching of these chemicals.
