CFLs require special handling for disposal which has not been dealt with in any comprehensive way in the U.S. In June 2008, Home Depot announced consumers could take back inoperative CFLs to any of its stores. We are asking other retailers to also take back CFLs in its stores, given its strong promotion of them.
