The Responsible Sourcing Network
In an effort to maximize our impact eradicating forced labor and other egregious human rights abuses at the commodity level of corporate supply chains, the Responsible Sourcing Network (RSN) was launched as a project of As You Sow. RSN is presently working to end forced child labor in Uzbekistan's cotton industry, and addressing the conflict minerals trade in Democratic Republic of the Congo, where profits fuel one of the world's bloodiest conflicts.
The Environmental Justice Foundation
The Environmental Justice Foundation released "White Gold: The True Cost of Cotton," which documents the problem of forced child labor in Uzbekistan, the atrocious environmental degradation that has occurred, and the corrupt government and banking system that lies as the foundation.
International Labor Rights Forum The International Labor Rights Forum has a cotton campaign that is specifically focusing on child labor being used in the cotton fields of Uzbekistan and India.
Fair Labor Association
Fair Labor Association is a nonprofit auditing group started by Nike which does monitoring on behalf of members and critiques the in-house auditing operations of member companies.
Verité
Verité is an independent social auditing and research organization. Verité auditors not only identify exploitation of workers or health and safety violations in the workplace, but also develop concrete steps to correct them through a combination of trainings for management and workers, education programs, and remediation programs.
