Colgate-Palmolive |

Our 2012 shareholder resolution with Colgate-Palmolive requested they explore the feasibility of adopting an EPR policy for post-consumer product packaging as a means of reducing carbon emissions and air and water pollution resulting from the company's business practices. As You Sow withdrew the proposal at Colgate-Palmolive in exchange for a commitment by the company to ensure that as much of its post-consumer packaging as possible is recycled and to set and disclose goals in support of this commitment within one year. Colgate is the first consumer packaged goods company engaged by As You Sow to commit to acknowledge responsibility and set goals for recycling packaging. The company also agreed to continue to engage in good faith with As You Sow about the effectiveness of EPR for packaging systems. Read more about our work on Consumer Packaging >>
