BEE AND POLLINATOR PROTECTION

Advocating for corporate policies that are protective of pollinators, especially bees, which are increasingly threatened by Colony Collapse Disorder, associated with insecticides and other factors.

BISPHENOL A

Bisphenol A (BPA) is used to make polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins. It is commonly found in polycarbonate plastic bottles, canned food linings, cash register receipt tape, and dental sealants. An increasing body of scientific evidence indicates that BPA is a potent neural, developmental, and reproductive toxicant, with the ability to impact fetal and infant development. Studies have linked exposure to extremely low doses of BPA to increased risk of breast and prostate cancer, impaired immune function, obesity, diabetes, early onset of puberty, hyperactivity, aneuploidy, and other disorders.

NANOMATERIALS

The introduction of nanotechnology into the food industry has raised significant concerns for both consumers and investors. The risks and benefits of this emerging technology are still being discovered and there is a disconcerting lack of scientific studies on the effects nanomaterials have on human health and the environment.

SMOKE-FREE

Making kid-rated movies smoke-free would prevent one million tobacco deaths in this generation of U.S. kids. Hollywood studios and their parent entertainment companies are well aware of the public health risk, but continue to expose millions of kids to tobacco. As You Sow has launched Tobacco Free Funds, an innovative search platform that makes it easy to find out if your money is invested in the tobacco industry or in entertainment companies that promote tobacco use.
