Racial and Environmental Justice Manager

Olivia Knight leads As You Sow’s Racial and Environmental Justice Initiatives which monitor corporate progress on racial equity, DEI disclosure, and environmental justice. The Racial Justice Scorecards are the backbone of As You Sow’s corporate and shareholder engagement on racial equity and environmental justice issues. The Scorecards serve as an educational evaluation tool to motivate companies to end their complicit relationship with systemic racism, and to inform stakeholders of the importance of racial and environmental equity.  

Through the Environmental Justice Initiative, Olivia focuses on outreach and coalition building with grassroots environmental justice organizations and impacted communities across the United States. The in-depth partnerships allow As You Sow to support community goals and organizations’ missions, with a long-term strategy of using this approach to reduce systemic harm overall.

Olivia holds a BA from Pitzer College in Environmental Analysis and African Studies and a Masters with Distinction in Environment, Development and Policy from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. Her dissertation explored African American participation in mainstream environmental movements in the United States.
